The Long Way Around

At Ashley John Pigford's behest I took a long walk opposite my normal route, turning left where I would normally go right, resulting in a meandering path and a new perspective. I translated this perspective in a visual Constructivist poem to illustrate the branching paths that stem from every decision we make.Printed in the letterpress studio at Penland School of Craft while assisting the Technographic Workshop digital fabrication/letterpress workshop.

Satisfied with my visual poem but wanting to explore the concept further I gathered each letterpress block from my poem into a kit of parts. The result: a second print representing the time and space in which my choices reside. An independent arrangement built from the duration and consequence of my choices, represented in one of infinite variations.
